Jennings Arms? How do I strip this thing?

Hi,

My father recently gave me a Jennings Arms J-22 that he picked up in one of his many journies. It's dirty and doesn't look like it's been cleaned in years. I want to clean it up and take it to the range, but I'll be damned, I can't figure out how to field strip it! Anyone know anything about this gun?

    Hi Livingthepast welcome aboard. I was just skimming thought the topics and just so happens that there is another post about the same model. I took the liberty of copying the only reply to that post.

    Most will reply to just continuing firing it until it comes off on its own.

    In the meantime, looking at the firearm from the rear you will see a circular button on the back of the slide. Push that in with a pencil and you will be able to lift the rear of the slide free from the frame. Remove the slide forward.

    Of course, this is using an unloaded firearm with the magazine removed.

    i was going to recomend a jar of sulferic acid, let it soak for about 2 weeks.

    1. Mix up a five gallon bucket of concrete.

    2. Drop pistol into bucket.

    3. Wait several hours.

    4. Now you have a great boat anchor![:D]

    If I remember correctly you make sure it's unloaded, drop the hammer (on a snap cap or empty case), at the rear of the slide is a sort of plunger that you push toward the muzzle about !/4", and lift up on the rear of the slide. There is a spring under the slide that may fly out so cover the slide with a rag or hold your hand over the back of it.

    i also have a jennings j-22. i tryed to send an email to dean at DeanCascio@aol.com to ask if he could also send me a copy of the instructions for the jennings j-22. if anyone has these instructions i would realy appricate a copy.

    In addition to above, avoid removing the grips- the right grip retains part of the trigger mechanism.
