There have been (3) companies producing firearms under the Kimber name. Your's is a product of the second one. Kimber of America. They started sporterizing Swede Model 96 Military Mausers in the mid 90's. They were only in business a couple of years before they sold out to Kimber Mfg., who moved the business to New York State, and concentrated on handguns.
The B B, I have values the Swede rifles between $350 & $450.
Note, these rifles have the earlier Mauser Action, WITHOUT the third safety lug on the bolt.

I think those mausers were done for a big wholesaler but I can't remember which. I sold a few of them and they seemed ok. The surplus rifles with good barrels were left in 6.5x55 while others were rebarrelled in 243,308,22/250, and maybe others. There were regular and heavy barrells in blue and nickel plate.

The 6.5x55 is a great round. Just make sure that you don't load hot load's. Keep it to factory spec's and you will love it!
The swedes did use their own steel to make these guns as they considered that their steel was superior. Doses your rifle have the 29" barrel or was it shortened?
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.0 -
