I have been using 4198 (IMR) alost exclusively out of my "18 1/2 barreled Guide Gun for the last few years and have had VERY good luck with it indeed! I normally use a 455 grain gas check lead bullet, but have used it behind jacketed rounds as well. I have used IMR 4895 with some success, but found it to be less than stellar in the accuracy department. Although I have read many times that it is not Kosher to use batting in this round, I have been doing so with a small chunk of cotton ball for many years and have yet to see any really adverse effects. One route you may want to pursue would be the use of magnum primers. It is MY belief that these will have a tendency to light the smaller than optimum charge volume one sees when using a quicker powder such as 4198 much better than standard larger rifle primers.
