H&R "The American" manufacture dates

Does anybody know when these were produced or maybe a source to find out? I've looked around the web, called H&R 1871, bought the blue book of gun values and tired the ATF. Please help!

    the h&r "american double action' revolvers were manufactured between 1884 and 1941. there were two models first model (for black powder only)1884-1904. second model (for smokeless powder) 1905 to 1941. the second model was marked on the left side of the barrel with the company name and address and were serialed numbered in one series from 01 (or 101) up to over 500,000. the first model is only marked with 'american double action' on the stop strap and were serial numbered in several series each starting at 01 (or 101) and going up to 99,999. total number manufactured is estimated to be about 400,000. at this time in my h&r research i have not found a way to determined which of the first models were manufactured before 1898. the only exception to this is the very earliest production possibly only the first year or two have a round barrel.
