Scope & rings for Savage 93RBVSS 17hmr

Looking for suggestions on scope & rings for the Savage for small varmints. Would also like to find a mount for a red dot sight for night coon hunting.

    You might want to get yourself some Weaver #46 bases(use both front and rear) and then you can use medium rings with scopes up to 44mm. If you use the supplied bases you will have to go to high rings to use a scope with much objective diameter at all. The 93/17 is going to amaze you with it's accurracy! It deserves a good peice of glass! I like the Nikon 4.5-14 Buckmaster, the Burris with the "balistic plex" reticle which has dots or points that fit the trajectory of the 17 out to 250 yards pretty darn closely. If looking for a lesser cost scope, you can use a 6x24 Tasco varmint scope with mil-dots and they can be had for $75.00 or another one I have mounted and shot in for people is the Simmons Aaetec 3.8-12 which should be somewhere around 150.00 or less. Check out "wholesalehunter" over at GB auction site. He has the cheapest Nikon prices of anywhere I've seen.....4.5-14 Buckmaster with mil-dot=$234.00!!!! Put something good on it! You won't be sorry! GHD

    Guess I will go with the Nikon 4.5 X 14 mildot. wish they had it in ss like the duplex one as it would go well on my Ruger 1B ss ls 25-06 too. Do they make a base for my Nikon dot sight for night hunting?

    They do make it in stainless also! If you checked out the "wholesalehunter" listings on GB auctions, it has a telephone number listed also and if you call and ask for "Travis" he'll tell you if he has one in stock! I use one of the stainless ones on my daughters 700 BDL stainless. I know they make the stainless one with mildot! As far as the base for using the reddot, it's probably going to have to be a Weaver style one peice base with multiple mounting slots.....don't know if I've ever seen one for a 93! If I had one to fit a Sriker, I'd probably use a Bushnell Holosight on it too! Good Luck! Let me know how it shoots! My first 93/17 did a .606" 100 yard group with the 11th-15th shots down the barrel! GHD
