"Firing a cartridge with a primer only" question

I took apart my SP-101 321XL pretty far tonight. As far as you can without driving out pins.

When I put it back together, I tested it with .38 cartridges w/ primer only.
I re-primed a spent cartridge, tried it out, and it was very tight after firing the round.
The cylinder would only turn with effort.
Tried it again, but paid more attention to seating the primer. No problem seating.
Same thing happened. Tight after firing primer.

Took a third cartridge, punched out the primer, cleaned the primer pocket, and pushed in a third primer.It was seated plenty into the cartridge. Same thing. cylinder is tight.

Closely examine cartridge. Primer blows out enough to affect free spin of cylinder. If this happens with blanks, why not with full loads?

    J, nto enough pressure developed by the primer to make the case grab the chamber wall.

    I should have pretended I was a round of .357
    What would be going on in my world if a primer went off under my load of powder?

    Plus, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

    I did the same thing years ago to a Ainsworth proofed colt SAA locked it up tight you can take a pistol cleaning rod or if bore is large enough a section of shotgun cleaning rod place it in barrel and just bump the base of the case this will "RESEAT" the fired primer. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    A cure for this is to take a few cases and enlarge the primer hole. This is what is done for cases used for blanks. Just remember to NEVER use them for full power loads.
