remington model 760 .223 gamemaster

hello,
i am new here and was wondering if someone could help me out here. i just picked up a model 760 .223 pump action rifle for $100 from a buddy. i was told that this gun is fairly rare and valuable. serial number is 449XXX. gun is in great condition and was wondering if i would make any money to sell it. nothing has been altered or changed. any info would be great.

    Blue Book says only 200 made from 1964 to '68. New $375, 98% $325,
    95% $275, 90% $250. The the pump remington has a sort of cult following, they are not near as saught after as the model 600's,788's
    or 700's bolt rifles. If you find a collector or enthusiast, who wants one as a rarity, and it is in the condition they find acceptable, you may get more than Blue Book. Best option is to take to a couple gun shows and see what the reaction is or here on GB auction.

    Do some serious research on this gun before you sell it. In my opinion the Blue Book is 'way low. I've seen them in auctions and gun shows for over $500, and that was in fairly used shape (guns that had been a police weapons). You WILL have to find someone who collects 760s to get top dollar, and the gun will have to be in primo condition, but you should search all the major auction sites to see what people are asking before you start offering it. Look it over for LEA/police markings--those should increase its value to some collectors. You might also do a search for a Remington collectors association--I know there is one, just don't know what it's called or the website. Someone else know?

    I was wondering if you still have this gun? If so is it in good condition and are you willing to sell it. I am looking for one to give to my father-in-law as a gift. Please reply.

    About 3 weeks ago I sold a Rem 760, 223, for $1200. The 223 is a heavy dollar item. In the last 3 or 4 years I have not seen one sold for less than $1000.

    From l964 to 1969 Reington Produced 2723 of the .223's. Later on they produced another 82 for international shooters for the running deer
    shoots.
