CZ 7.25x25 and Makarov
Can someone give me some information and opinions on the CZ 7.25x25 and the Bulgarian Makarov. I have a chance to pick these up but do not know anything much about either gun. Thanks

In the past I've owned both models. They were originally designed as military pistols and are good value for the money. The CZ 52 firing pin does tend to be fragile though, it would be best to have some spares on hand.

the MAKAROV is a small, thin profile, light CCW piece. it is reliable, well made, concealable, small, and a comfortable gun to shoot, carry, and hold. the ammo is cheap, plentiful, and has a relativly light recoil. the gun, the ammo, the acsessories, and parts are cheap and available.
the CZ52 is a large frame, long, heavily constucted, full size piece. it is reliable (yes, the original firing pins can break, but stainless steel replacements are cheap and reliable) requires a larger hand, is not a "small, pocket sized concealable" gun. its a pleaseant gun to hold, and it points well. the bottle necked TOKERAV round is perhaps one of the hottest handgun cartridges you are ever likely to fire. the original mil-spec czech ammo is about 25% hotter than standard commercial loads, and has a high velocity. it is not a pleasant gun for the novice to shoot. it takes a bit more experiance and control to handle safely. the gun, ammo, and accsesories as well as parts are readily available and affordable.
its an APPLES VS ORANGES argument.
they are not comparable guns in any respect.
while both are cheap, well made, military designed, surplus pistols from the EASTERN BLOC that were the simularities end.
i own and have fired both, and there is almost no simularity.

I believe the correct caliber designation for the CZ pistol was stated wrong in your post. Should be.....7.62x25 correct? Maybe was just a typo. I just wanted to see if I could get someone to concurr with me.0 -
