Info on Beretta Tomcat I picked up from gunsmith

Since this model has no extractor, it throws the shell out by simple blowback.
The pistol, I've learned, is not meant for target-shooting (I used to go through a box + at a time)

After about twenty rounds, there is sufficient buildup in the chamber which can lead to increased resistance in the "blowing out" of the spent cartridge.

This can lead to short cycling. The shell may eject, but you might experience a failure to feed.

I have been advised to run a patch through it every few mags if I intend to practice with it for an extended period of time.

  I don't know about the Bobcat, but I've owned a Beretta 950 in 22 short for 20+ years. It uses the same system and has never failed to feed or eject.

  The problem came on suddenly.
  
  The feed ramp is 1/2 on the frame, rest on the barrel.
  
  The barrel stopped lockdown all the way down, leaning to a crack .5~.75 mm between the two feed ramps (.32ACP gun).
  
  I'll have it back in a week.

  mine does the same thing , I really don't see it as a problem , as long as you know it needs a clean chamber , keep it that way when you're carring it and do like you say when at the range, just run a patch thru it
