Colt agent BArrel Problem
I Have a really nice 1st model agent that I was shooting yesterday. I bought it a year so ago in 99% shape. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the front sight never looked right, like the barrel was bulged when the front sight is inset. I have fired some light loads in it previously with no problems, but yesterday, I was shooting some heavier loads, and after 2 rounds the front sight fell off, upon closer inspection there are 2 small cracks running up the edges where the groove is cut for the sight and the barrel is more obvoiusly swolen than before, maybe .005 at the edges of the sight groove. Any thoughts?
I haven't been able to locate the proper barrel, only the later ones with the shrouded ejector rod, will the later ones work, will a barrel for a Cobra work? What should it cost me to have the barrel changed, aside from the barre itself, is it worth messing with or should I just scrap the gun?
TIA,

Hello it sounds like the owner before you had a bullet or other obstruction in the end of barrel and fired another round . I can't tell without seeing gun but probably did not hurt the rest of it .don't throw away either cut off barrel for a VERRRY short carry gun or rebarrel. try gunshows etc for replacement. quote:PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN 0 -
Most any D-frame barrel will work, although there are slight differences from series to series. An early DS barrel, Cobra barrel, etc.
It should cost from $35-$60 plus the barrel and any refinishing that might be needed.

I thought a 2" was a very short barrel, I might be able to get 1 1/4" out of it.... On second thought I had better find a nice 2 or 3" Cobra barrel.
