Savage 99 value

I'm looking at a Savage model 99 Brush gun in 358 cal.. This gun is in at least 99% shape. All case coloring on lever parts and bolt has absolutely no scratches on it. If it had the original box the person could probably say N.I.B. and it would be hard to say otherwise. I'm thinking about buying it but want to know approximately what it's worth. Thanks for any reply's!

    I recently acquired an old Savage 99 in 300 Sav.caliber with the window cartridge counter in the receiver.I would probably rate it as 85% to 90% and was wondering about the approximate value of this rifle,thanks in advance of your answers,Bob.

    Condition , condition ,condition is the key on these rifles. WOuld first like to know the serial number so we could date the gun, then is there any holes drilled into this gun for a scope, also any cracks in the stock . Is the butt plate a Savage one with the Indian logo ? Many factors in these values.

    When you ask for value: there is value for insurance purposes and there is value in what it would sell for. For insurance purposes, value it at $500. If you are trying to sell it, $175-$250 will be about all it will bring.

    Savage 99 rifles are pretty good old guns, but there is little demand for them.

    Prices on 99s seem to be very dependent upon location. They were a popular deer rifle here in New England-admittedly a distant second to the ubiquitous Winchester 94- and have a quite large collector following. At local gun shows 99s in decent condition are, after the usual pump shotguns, one of the hottest sellers. Even though I don't collect them, I have a certain fondness for the old Savage since my first deer fell to a 99 in that exact configuration. Around here that rifle-unaltered and in 85-90% condition- would bring 375-500.00 easily.
