460 Roland Conversion
Has anyone had any experince with this cartridge?
All I know is that it will give 44 mag performance in a 1911 style pistol. The casing is 1/16th of an inch longer than 45ACP and can be loaded on standard 45ACP dies with a minor adustment. Conversion kits are selling for around $300.

why don't you shoot 45 acp+p ammo?

In the late 80's I started loading a predecessor of the Roland, called the .45 Super. You could use conventional 45 brass to load it.

I was using 200 grain bullets. Once you loaded them up to 1200 fps, the recoil and muzzle blast was REALLY ugly.
I would advise you to experiment with hot loads in .45 ACP brass, before you go and buy a 460 Roland conversion.

HELLO why not buy one of springfield arms single shot conversion units and rechamber to 50 BROWNING MACHINE GUN and then put it on an ALUM. compact 1911 frame. I am sorry but I still don't get the point. SELF PUNISHMENT . Ask any orthopedic MD your hand and arm can only take so much. What about the 45 Win Mag? There is still brass available from Midway and it really packs a whallop. I believe recoil spring and barrel conversion kits are also still available, and there is NO chance of getting your brass confused between it and 45 ACP whatever! Just another idea for you to mull over.

I have been shooting the 460 Rowland for several years now. It truly does equal 44 Magnum performance-230 grain bullet at around 1400 fps. Far surpasses 45+p or Super. It has a healthy recoil, but the compensator works well. Extremely accurate. 0
