Night sites vs. regular sites-question?
I have night sights as well as regular sites on different handguns, and I have used both when I have shot in matches using a flashlight, and under low light conditions. I have found that where there is "ANY" light, the night sites do not help. They are new sites and VERY bright in total darkness, But they only work well, in the really dark situations, where I am not able to positively "identify" the target.
I know that most people do not get a chance to "practice" using night sites, but of those of you who do. Has anyone found any "real" advantage to having them? Besides just being a "cool" accessory.
The only scenario where I think they would come in handy is, if you were in your house at night, no lights on, and there is a person in your house. For this reason alone I will keep them. But this can go back to "positively" being able to identifying your target. (or not)

What brand of sites are you using? My mepro-lights work great in low light situatuions. I love them. I have experienced that Mepros are the brightest, then trijicon, and then glock, however I have heard that Trijicon lasts the longest. Just my .02 0 -
"Night-sight" are a un-necessary add-on.
Practise, practise and then practise some more. That will improve your overall gun-handling and shooting ability !!

MOST gunfights with pistols take place at distances of 20 feet, or less! No time to even think about sights, just point and shoot.
Work at the range on drawing, pointing, and shooting at short distances, really FAST!
As far as being in my house, I know the layout, the bad guy doesn't. If I can get my Glock in my hand before he gets me, he loses!
And remember, if the bad guy somehow gets behind you, HE can see your 'night sights' as good as you can.
