No Slugs

I have mossberg .12 3 1/2 Mag. It will shoot anything except Slugs. The question is: Why not slugs?

    What do you mean,will it not cycle?is it a choked barrel?
    or does it say something in the owner manual, what??
    Sometimes some slugs are not recomended in some barrels
    or sabots
    Have you tried?

    BARREL IS OVERBORED AND THE SLUGS WILL NOT SEAL.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    In other words, buy a slug barrel, which won't be overbored. Shooting slugs through your barrel will not only have poor accuracy, but may be dangerous, as well. Not a good idea.

    Thanks for the info. Now what does over bored mean ? It says
    Choke

    Choke is the amount of constriction at the end of the barrel, as compaired to the barrel ID.
    Overbored means that the barrel ID is larger than the traditional standard for that gauge. Said to reduce recoil, chamber pressure, shot deformation and improve patterning (not to mention cure the common cold, grow hair, cure cancer, enhance your love life, etc).

    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    You can shoot slugs, with only one problem....accuracy may be reduced.

    Overbore (enlarged bore)is very small, and the shell case will expand and seal at the chamber area.
    But, depending on the wad(cup), and slug it may "rattle" down the tube. That will negatively affect accuracy.

    Slugs that won't work are solid copper of the non sabot style.
    Brenneke may work, but I personally haven't tried them.

    If any reasonable accuracy is achieved @ 25 yds, it is best to try @ 50 & 75 yds also if using the same barrel.
    Remember, accuracy will be effected by the sighting system, and target, so make sure those are factored to accurately evaluate the ammo used.
