    Hello:
All of the Federal Premium ammo shot very well in my 7mm. 160 grain seemed to shoot the best. I don't know if I'd shoot a ballistic tip . . . probably OK for antelope, but I'd prefer a more solid bullet on mule deer and white tail. Not to say that the ballistic tip won't do the job (but I've seen some quarters blown away with ballistic tips). Your son should really be building a load if he wants to see exceptional performance. I'm getting some great patterns right now with H870 and a 160 grain Sierra Boattail. I'd stay with a little heavier bullet; some wicked cross winds in the coulees out west. Good luck!

I second the federal premium 150gr nosler balistic tip. I have taken whitetail at 400-500yds with that round and none have gotten away.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Try the scirocco bonded(Remington site) 150 grain. It has the best ballistics of any factory load.
