25-06 barrel length

will a 26" barrel give you many more FPS than the 24" in 25-06, I am looking at a 25-06 sendero and wonder if it will be much more accurate at long range varmint hunting than mmy 700 classic.

If it shoots the same bullet faster, will it also shoot flatter?

    to answer your ? yes you will get more fps with the longer bbl and yes the sendero *should* be more accurate then the classic... and faster normally means flatter so to answer your 3rd ? yes again [:D]

    oh and by the way.. i'd buy the sendero 25-06 just for the fact that they arent making the sendero in 25-06 anymore

    my brother's winchester 70 in 25-06 has the 24" barrel and has no problems with long shots (over 300 yards) at caribou with 120 grain ammo.

    The 25/06 is a big enough case to need a 24" and can make good use of the 26". I tried a 22" and it worked ok but had a lot of muzzle blast and a big fireball. Obviously, it was losing quite a bit from the shorter barrell.
