Barrel markings on Winchester Model 1886
I read in a "For Collector's Only" book that all 1886 round barrel carbines had Winchester markings with each line preceded by and ending with a dash, not "arrows". My 50 express has arrows like the ones on rifle round barrels, not dashes. Is that possible?
My letter from "Cody" states that it is a carbine.

Hello dlmoor...
Yes, it is very possible. Art Pirkle did a wonderful job with his series of "For Collectors Only" books on the various Winchester Lever action rifles, but there are a few nuances that he missed. If your Model 1886 Carbine letters correctly, I would not be overly concerned with the slight variance in the barrel address.
