rem 3200
i am looking at a few remington 3200 skeet with 26 in. bbls. i recall that the early ones 1973 -74 had some problems and need to be returned to rem. for repairs. any and all info on the model 3200 will be helpfull in my descion to buy or not.

early 3200's were recalled to be strengthened in the receiver. cracks were found on some and a fear of a potential breech explosion made the recall happen. the way you can tell if the upgrade has been done is by a period(.) in the middle of the alpha numeric serial number and by looking in the bottom of the water tables back deep down on the breech block face. look. youll see two allen head screws. all newer and subsequent 3200s had the mod done at the factory during assembly. hope this helps.

I RECENTLY SOLD A 3200 PREMIER ON G.B. . I WAS ASKED ABOUT THE UPGRADE MENTIONED BY BOBSKI . THE DOT IN SN AND THE ALLENS IN BREECH
FACE . ONE OTHER QUESTION ASKED WAS ABOUT THE FIRING PIN HOLES IN BREECH FACE : ARE THEY NICE AND ROUND OR DO THEY APPEAR TO BE EGG SHAPED . I AM NOT SURE IF THE UPGRADES PERTAINED TO THIS . I BELIEVE THE DOT IN SN MEANS THE UPGRADES WERE DONE BY REMINGTON AND NOT SOMEONE ELSE . HOPE YOU FIND A NICE 3200 .THEY ARE A REAL FINE O/U .

remington was and still is the only one allowed to do the upgrade. the egg shaped firing pin holes are the result of dry firing the gun. as the pins wear, they pertrude and snag the bbls as they drag on the shell base as it breaks open, causing an egg shape in the breech holes. eventually, they will break off and the pin holes will need redrilling and new oversize pins installed. 250.00 job. (3 hours) check your spent shells. if there is a scratch on the base starting in the middle and going to the edge, you got problems forming. 0
