Something new to me

I saw something new today and I was just wondering if anyone has seen anything like it. It was a 22lr rifle with an octagon barrel. The strange part is that it appeared to be a trap door rifle. You lift a door at the breach and an ejector pushes the spent casing out. I couldn't get any pictures of it because the guy that showed it to me was in a hurry. The story goes that he got it from his aunt when his uncle died and it's about 100 years old. I'm sorry but it didn't have any kind of markings on it. The buttplate did have a picture of a stag on it. I couldn't find anything like it on gunbroker so any help would be appreciated.

    Sounds like a Belguim Made FLOBERT Rifle....Nice Wall Hanger....But not a shooter.....Most were made to shoot .22 CB Caps or .22BB Caps...Worth about $150.00 in Good Condition......

    A .22 rifle with a similar "trap-door" action was made in Germany in the 20's, although I don't think it had a octagonal barrel?

    The company who made it, was "Deutsche Werke" ( they also made Ortgies Pistols ). Their monogram/trademark was a stylized letter "D" that was made to look like the Egyption Sphinx.

    Stevens made one to called crackshot, I know the one I have doesn't have the octagonal barrel. Don't know if the made em with that barrel though.

    Taco...The Crackshot is a falling Block, not a trapdoor.I think Rufe and the Captain are on the right trail.
