Remington Mod. 32
I'm looking for information concerning this shotgun ser.# 2360.It was built in 1934 and purchased new by a radio talk show host in Los Angeles, then by my father in 1959.It's a skeet gun in very good condition with Purbaugh tubes.What makes this shotgun somewhat unique is that it's a two barrel set.One 26" bbl.and one 30" bbl.with matching serial numbers.Has any one ever worked on or seen another factory two barrel set with matching serial numbers?

yes, its common to see 2 bbl sets. 32's were an funny gun. bought by the purists at heart, many were custom ordered and there are a lot of high dollar 32's out there. they were targeting the browning superposed market with them. they were expensive to build and they had some quirks to them. seems all the nice expensive guns were made during the depression. ww2 eventually caused its demise. remington unloaded it like a hot potato and big green went full into semi autos. the patent was sold to kreighoff after the war and it became the kreigoff 32. the germans fixed the problems and the new K-80 is the result. remington came back with the 3200 in 73 and it became known as the poor mans kreigoff...to this day. the 3200 can keep pace with either m-32. the old remingtons are still out there being used on ranges and are still holding up...with lots of tlc! never did like those loose bbls, bad triggers, and cracking stocks though. watch the 20ga tubes. they tend to crack at the chamber from people over hammering them into the 12ga bbls w/o the special plastic insert.

bobski, thank you very much for the info and i agree with most of it.the total production run of 32s was only 5100 guns and your saying its common to see 2 bbl. sets.perhaps you can direct us to a site with some these 2 bbl. sets are for sale as we're trying to get a price range for it,its going up for sale later this year and neither of us have ever seen another one for sale.

any fine gun shop will atest to it. see, many guns could be returened to the factory for the extra fit. your gun could have started out as a skeet, sent back for the extra bbl and matched to the existing serial number. they still do this. my 1 of 100 3200 trap gun has an extra matched by serial nuber set of bbls fitted to it. its a common upgrade at remington. you might want to call remington and inquire on when it was done and by whom. if your looking to pump the value of the gun by claiming it as a 2 bbl set, add the cost od/of another bbl. thats about it. btw...my back arrow doesnt allow me to go backwards w/o erasing all my pretyped info. if there is a mispelled word, forgive me! 0 -
Bobski mentioned that the Remington Model 32 has some quirks. I am considering buying a skeet model with five barrels, two Rem. 12 gage barrels (26 &28 inch) and Simmons barrels in 20, 28 and .410. All in a really nice fitted leather case. The forend wood and stock has been redone with some of the most beautiful wood I have ever seen on a gun and has a length-of-pull adjustable pad. Now my questions: generally, what is the gun worth and what are the model 32 quirks. Are they problems or something that can be lived with. I shoot about 1500-2000 skeet targets each year. Will the gun stand up to that pressure? Thanks much for your help. Very old upland hunter. 0 -
Interesting. Bobski mentioned problems with Remington 32's. But in five years he has failed to answer my questions. I bought the gun and sent it to the '32 expert gunsmith in Illion, NY. The put in new firing top line firing pins, springs, and all the other pins...$350 including shipping. Got it back and the trigger pull was exactly like when I sent it...3 1/2 pounds and very crisp. I don't know who this Bobski is but after reading a lot, and I mean a lot, of free advice on many other boards, I now consider Bobski as full of s..t. Navy Seal...no way in hell! 0 -
