Smith & Wesson Model #2
I am looking for information on the Model #2 Smith & Wesson.
I have one that my inlaws found stuffed between rafters of their home in Detroit, sometime in the 40's. It is in what I would call very good condition. Has only one flaw - a side cover missing. It is not pitted or damaged in any other way.
I have been told it was the gun of a Civil War Officer, and it's serial number of 40333 seems to confirm that.
Would be interested in establishing it's history and a value.

Your serial number is higher then the one given ( #35731 ) in "Flayderman's Guide". It was manufactured after the Civil War ended, 5/65.
Since these were for the most part, were purchased by officers & enlisted men for their own personal use, their is no way to establish/trace the history of these revolvers.
