Info on Garand Bayonet
Would appreciate any help with info on a garand bayonet, hilt is marked " U. S. M5A1 and Imperial" scabbard is "USM8A1" with the initials "P W H" under the model #. Also some idea of this value. thanks

I imagine that "Imperial" was the name of the firm that manufactured the bayonet, whether this will add to it's value, I don't know.

The Bayonet M5 was the last 'form' to be issued with the GARAND Rifle...It will fit No Other Rifle...and the Scabbard for the last 'form' issued M5 was the M8A1.....Before this design was approved the previous scabbard was the M8 which also fit the M4 Bayonet which fit the M1 Carbine...You really ought to buy a copy of the "American Bayonet" by Albert N. Harden...The history on Bayonets that were redesignd to fit the M-1 Garand will amase you...and is to long to discuss on this Forum...Best......
