We need to add this to Mark Christian's "Gun FAQ list"; this question comes up at least once a month.
First, welcome to this forum. If you become a regular reader, I'm sure that a lot of your gun related questions will be answered.
Second, "acquiring a FFL" is just one step in a long process called "going into business as a gun dealer". I say this because many folks look at the high price of guns, & figure that they can get them a lot cheaper if they had an FFL; it doesn't work that way. BATF doesn't issue FFLs just so we can buy our guns at wholesale; they only issue them to people who have established a business to earn money. You can learn a lot on the BATF website, www.atf.treas.gov.
After reading that, if you decide to go into the gun business, you have to do the same things that anyone else in your city/county/state has do in setting up a new business: get a zoning permit (or prove that you don't need one), get appropriate licenses, develop a business plan, etc. In addition, you will need a gun safe, & your FFL.
I suspect that, after looking into it, you will decide that your local dealer deserves every cent he gets, & you will give up any thought of getting a license.
