Stoeger or Franchi?

I'm looking at geting me a semi-auto 12 gauge that is at a resonable price. I have been looking at the Stoeger model 2000 and the Franchi 912. I don't know a lot about eather one of these guns and was wondering which one would be a better by? Thanks for any Info.

    I've always been a Franchi fan but they kick like strong young mules, least the older models, but they are great shooters IMHO - don't guess this helps much, sorry-[:p]

    Franchi is known for making the lightest guns. Don't overlook Baikal, as they're reliable and cheap. Almost any gun will work for you; just a matter of personal preference.

    Don't over look the used market. There are a lot of excellent simi-auto 12's out there. What is the primary use? Are you using it for clays...a good fit and pretty, or field use...a good fit but butt ulgy, or something in between. I've seen nice 1100's go for $275 and Beretta 390's for as low as $375. I would stay away from the Daly simi-autos. Handle as many guns as posible and find one that fits. Many of the newer models are too lite and will kick the snot out of you. Remember, you can always touch up a fair/good gun with Blue Wonder and/or refinish a stock. Just look for good fit and function for starters. IF you end up not liking the simi-autos, you won't be out $$$ on a new gun your not going to shoot. If you like the simi-auto's then you can trade up to a newer model.

    Welcome aboard DH16! I have a Stoeger model 2000 Deluxe 12 guage semi-automatic. Have been using it for a little over 3 years. I really like the gun. It's movement in decisive, have had little or no problems (other than my own headspace issues). I hunt dove, shoot sheet and sporting clays, and other migratory fowl. I shot 130 rounds of sheet yesterday, no issues. I shot 120 rounds of sporting clays three weeks ago with no issues, and then shot a 100 clay flurry with three other friends (computer selected clays, every 2 seconds) and had only one feed issue because I did not properly load the round. Good gun, highly recommend it.[:)]
