No personal experience with the Bersa Thunder .380 . But I know people like them. From everything I hear its a good value from the higher priced weapons of that style. I think some of the other guys on this board will agree with me. For your price range I dont think you can go wrong with Bersa Thunder. Any way I found a review for you to read over.

quote:P.S. - When a pistol is referred to as ACP, is it AUTOMATIC COLT PISTOL?? Does that refer to the loading design??

Yes it stands for Automatic Colt Pistol. Normally used to designate a cartridge as in 45 ACP.

Go with the Bersa..they retail here for $199.00. Bought one for my wife and she loves it!!! Has never malfunctioned, and we have put over 500 rounds through it. If you can go more, then check out their 45ACP model...around $349. Friend has one and between us there's already over a 1000 rounds down the range without a malfunction. Nice little pistols, reliable, and inexpensive.

There is a great big differance between inexpensive and cheap!! The Bersa is a good gun for the money. Good steel, decent worksmanship and decent accuracy. Other than the Makarov (and clones) there is not much to compare with it in its price range.

I have owned one in 380 and 22. They are excellent little guns, well made, and very dependable. A very good buy and attractively made, also.

Thanks to all. I think we have a winner. This forum has probably saved me from "buying a lesson" so to speak. Keep up the good work.

Definately a winner. You could search this forum back literally years and see positive posts for Bersas. Are they the best handgun out there? Definately not, but they are great little guns, well made, reliable, and nice looking. I love mine and my wife, can't say she loves it or any gun, but it is a good size for her if and when she would ever need to use it.
Can't beat the price and the reviews of any of us who have one!

I bought one because of all the good things I had heard about them. I got the black with gold trim. That was a mistake. Now it's my wifes ccw gun! I have another one on the way in two tone. They are great little guns. Both mine are 380 cal.

I have a bersa 380. It is a good gun for the money. My wife feels the slide is hard to pull back .I paid 125. used

    Thomas Jefferson, of Virginia:
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
