does anybody make a tool ( besides a brass punch)

  Williams Gun Sight Co. makes a front sight pusher, available directly from Williams, Brownell's or your local dealer can order. Last time I looked it was about $55.
  Edit: This type of pusher works on sights in ramped bases and is not designed for use with sights set in dovetails in the barrel.

  I believe Brownell's carries one. It grips the barrel and the screw mechanism is used to move the sight in the dovetail. I called them on it several years ago to see if it would work on a Winchester 30-30. They aaid 'no', not with the mag tube beneath the barrel.
