i have a bushmaster xm15e2s.how can i tell if it is post or pre ban?can i use high cap mags in it if it is post ban?

  A post ban will not have a bayonet lug, flash hider or telescoping stock.
  
  You can legally use high cap mags in a post ban gun.

  as long as the magazines are pre-ban you can use them in any gun. Certain states don't allow high cap magazines at all so check with your local laws before buying them.
