Due to the very restrictive firearms laws in England. Many military rifles were converted to .410 single shot shotguns. This was the only way to own what was once a military rifle. Shotguns weren't regulated/licensed as severally as rifled arms at that time.

additionally, many of these enfields were converted, sold, and used heavily as prison guns in the britsh empire. a lot were sold to india at wars end to be used for police use and crowd control. i owned a few and got rid of them when i realized they were converted rifles designed around the brass 410 hull. traditional modern plastic hulls had a tendency to shoot off the hull at the base. for some reason it sticks in my mind they were chambered for 3" only. they had no worth to me if they didnt shoot skeet loads. i sold em.

former air operations officer SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 2. former navy skeet team, former navy rifle/pistol team member. co-owner skeetmaster tubes inc.. owner/operator professional shooting instruction.

You can get a LOT more information about your gun at www.milsurpshooter.net, including ways to fireform .303 British brass into shotgun cases. There's a lot both in the Enfield forum and the Military Shotgun forum. I have a couple of these, and they are easy to load for and a lot of fun to shoot.

I think it was Centuryarms that sold them for 50 or 60 bucks at one time. Might still have some.

Guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat
