Whats it worth?

i have a model 27 s/w 357 6" configuration in the presentation case with all tools, appx. 90% or better, however it also has a companion cylinder for 357/44 bain and davis. I have also acquired all the dies, brass, reloading manuals,etc for the 357/44 cartridge. i know what i have spent, but whats it worth or is beauty in the eye of the beholder.

    b00mer... I have no idea what the barrel, dies, and brass are really worth. However, since I have been around auctions for many years, I firmly believe that the market will dictate what it is really worth. Simply list it with an opening bid set at the minimum amount you are willing to part with it for, and let it be a true auction.

    Hidden "Reserve" auctions do nothing but irritate a large number of potential buyers... me included. Sellers should simply list all items at what their minimum acceptable selling price is, and then let the market dictate if it is truly worth more. Keep in mind, that with the added costs of S&H, the vast majority of people are not going to bid anywhere near the full retail price for an item.

    Ditto on Bert's post!! Reserves irritate the hell out of me and have caused me to simply give up on a number of items that I could likely have purchased had they been presented in a fair realistic way. I always set openning prices at the least I am willing to accept and let the bids go from there. Often times I get the asking, openning price but occasionally the market brings the end price up a ways.

    As mentioned, look at similar items that sold (or are selling) in the recent past and use that as a litmus test. You will chase a certain segment of the market away(Myself, and evidently Bert and the Captain as well!) with a reserve!! Good luck!
