sight on flat top ar
I know that you can use a regular scope on a flat top ar and see fine but what about those red dot sights or a holovid kind.

the ac[?]og is the best by far!!! especially if you are lucky to get the real military deal!!! BUT if you have a flat top upper, and a fixed front sight with it, make sure your [red dot] or acog is high enough to see over your front sight group!!! you may need a rear riser!!! this will give you the needed height for your sight system!!! trial and error!!!!!! only you can be the judge****** 0 -
The sight of choice for most flat-top AR's is either Aimpoint, EOtech/Bushnell Holosight, ACOG. Watch the video coverage of troops in Iraq or any LE entry team. Most have one of these, which are great for CQB. If you are worried about losing your optics, you can install back up iron sights (BUIS). And if properly installed, you can co-witness your BUIS through the scope/red-dot. The red-dot/holo sights allow you to keep both eyes open and on the target area. Just put the dot on the target and go bang, then immediately pick up secondary targets.[8D] 0 -
I have a Eotech with the GG&G BUIS. Works super.
A friend of mine has used them all in IRAQ and after asking him some questions regarding them he says the Acog is great at standoff range but sucks up close. The Eotech is best at cqb range, but you need a buis in case it gets damaged or batteries lay down on you.
I went with the latter..my .o2
