SA 1911 Mil-Spec WWII, Sight set??

I am looking at getting a set of night sights for my SA 1911-A1 WWII, but I am not sure as to what type of front sight it has. I think it has a Staking tang but is it the narrow(.055) or the wide(.125)? I dont have the gun with me know, at the gunsmith getting a beavertail installed, so I cant inspect it. Also, I know the rear dovetail sight would be easy to install but how about the staking tang front sight?

    I 've installed 1911 sights by staking in the past. The only comment that I could make re the night sights is that you have to have the slide set up right ( in a fixture ), so there will be no impact on the sights themselves.

    My 2 cents is that it would be better to have the slide cut for a dovetail, and install the nightsights that way.

    Hello BROWNELL sells a tool to STAKE THE FRONT SIGHT. as far as cutting a dove tail for the front sight be careful some slides are too thin between the barrel cutout and the top of slide to accept a dovetail cut and you will ruin the slide.

    To answer your question; The narrow sight is correct for the 1911 and the A1 but the wider sight makes more sense. Staking it in is a pain to do right without marking it or the slide. Take it to a gunsmith.
