Clips for Colt Government model
About a month ago I purchased 4 clips at a gun show. Didn't try to use them until yesterday. Out of the four, one will fit into the gun and release properly, one will fit into the gun but not eject, and two will not even fit all the way into the gun. The clips are all S.S. marked with the Colt logo, "COLT 45 AUTO" and have an "M" stamping just like the original clip. WHAT'S UP??????
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello has your pistol been worked on IE new trigger or had the front grip strap stippled ? some times the trigger BOW is slightly bent inwards and will drag on the mag & sometimes stippleing the front gripstrap without the proper support will "MOVE" enough metal that some mags will not work. Really sounds like the trigger bow to me.
Strip the pistol and try to insert the magazine through the trigger bow. Should be obvious if that is the problem.

Buy new D47 Wilson Combat Mags.

First......try loosening the grip screws a little. 0 -
You say one fits properly. My guess is that you purchased some mags that had poor dimensional control when manufactured. I recently ordered 3 that turned out to be too tight when inserting into the gun, just a tad oversize in width. I was able to carefully squeeze them in my vise to make them fit. Had to be careful not to get them too tight inside and cramp the rounds when loaded. Quality control is almost a lost art in manufacture these days. I have two original unaltered 1911s that all previous mags fit properly. 0
