4 extra inches of barrell
I plan on buying a Bushmaster Ar15 soon and I can't decide between the 20" barrelled model or the carbine. I need to be able to get around in tight places with it and occassionally make 2-250 yard shots. Will 4 more inches of barrell affect accuracy substantially.

I have a 16" dpms 1/8 twist bull barrel and at 200 yards with 55 grain bullets it will touch holes and I cant shoot that well. 0 -
Generally "16 of barrel with the twists mentioned are more than enough to stabilize a bullet. If you intend to start shooting 600 yd. matches and need to go to a faster twist to handle the heavier VLD bullets popular with that combination, then go for a longer barrel. Otherwise, the "16 should perform abmirably.
