In my opinion, the Kimber rifles are about the closest you will get to a true "custom" rifle when purchasing a factory gun. Not unlike Kimber pistols, they are a pleasure to shoot right out of the box. Recently shot one up at McMiller chambered in 223 and got one ragged hole results, even with my poor eyes!
P.S. Sorry Mike, thought you were talking about rifles! I think I just experienced a severe brain cramp on this one!

I have had the opportunity to fire several different Kimber models in the past. With the exception of one of the ultra compact models that had some feeding problems, all have been excellent firearms.
The Target Model you are considering should afford you decent accuracy and reliability.
I currently own a Kimber Gold Match and it has been an exceptional
firearm both in accuracy and reliability for the 5 + years I have owned it.

Hello KIMBERS are great guns out of the box HOWEVER you did not state what type of shooting you will use it for. PLINKING, HUNTING,IDPA, should serve you well BUT if you want to shoot N.R.A. BULLSEYE you need to look at other options.CUSTOM BUILT guns like LES BAER WILSON KEEFER etc is what you need . to pay for a GOLD CUP OR KIMBER TARGET and then have it set up for BULLSEYE you will discard the barrel and other parts and if you mount a "RED DOT " scope you discard the adjustable sights.In other words buy what you want but be sure what use it will be for . 0 -
I am probably one of the ten people on God's Green Earth that is not impressed or in awe of the mighty Kimber. The original Klackamas (sp),OR guns were quite good and a very good value. IMHO the current Yonkers,NY guns are nothing more than just another 1911 with better than average quality control. Nothing more, nothing less!!! Not bad, but short of a few of the older Gold Matchs, but nothing exceptional.
Too many people have bought into the Kimber mystique by listening to the glowing reports by the gun wags or inexperienced 'experts'. Give me a free gun and I will be glad to write a glowing article for you! Yes, I can be that hypocritcal if paid for it. So can they! If you want a much more unbiased view ask around to the participants in the IDPA or Bullseye matches.
Kimber produces a beter than average pistol but their publicity department is second to none. This is just my personal opinion, so all you Kimberites can now flame away.

Production guns or highly worked by master craftsmen? The Olympic team could use old Auto Ordnance guns that had been re-worked and outshoot 99.9 percent of us.

Hello PUNCHIE I dn't know what olympic event you are talking about I tried out but was not good enough to make the team but we shot "AIR PISTOL"" FREE PISTOL" "RAPID FIRE" and "STANDARD PISTOL" only the standard pistol was center fire and NOOOOOOOBODY SHOT A KIMBER and this was shot at 25 yds which don't mean squat as N.R.A. slow fire is shot at 50 yards I have shot some of this "made the PRES 100 nine times and ROOT MEDAL twice" look at what Camp Perry shooters shoot and they aint all KIMBERS and none are out of the box stock kimbers. I don't want to be smart Axx but get the facts straight 0 -
Buy it! I have a Kimber Custom Stainless that shoots beautifully. .

Bought it ! Love it ! Where can I get Kimber parts at with out paing full price ? Looking for extended magwell and flat bottom rosewood grips . Mike 0
