how accurite are mini 14's?

If you can hold it inside a 4-6" pattern at 100 yards, you will be doing good.
As far as fixing it at a reasonable cost? Can't be done. Buy a AR-15. You will spend the same amount of money.

I have owned a mini and they just simply shoot like crap..[V]
I moved up to the ar style's and they are 10x the rifle.[:D]

I basicly agree with the above posts. Over the years I have owned 4 different Mini-14's...One would group under 2" with the right ammo. (Late 70's model) The other three were 3-5" again with the right ammo.
Mini's are fun to shoot and can be modified but the cost to do so makes them close enough to the cost of an entry level AR.....I will always own at least one mini because they are rugged and reliable.

Put a hogue stock on and a slip on muzzle brake and the group size typically gets cut in half. Cost approx. $100. Still typically your looking at a 3" gun after a stock change and a brake. 0 -
The mini 14 and Mini 30 rifles were not designed to be target rifles. They are very good for what they were intended. Varments and people. At 200 yards they will do well on varments. A scope will give you better groupings at 200 yards. Stabalize the front of the barrel will help. SilverBox is correct in his statment. If you want a target rifle buy a bolt action or an AR. If you want a good plinker out to 200 yards get a Mini 14. My 2 cents [8D]

there is a company that offers a conversion / rebuild / accurizing / BBL replacement, trigger job, etc... service that promises 1/2 minute of angle at 250 yds, and 1/4 MOA at 100 yds...
i can think of better ways to spend a few thousand dollars though...
better accuracy from the stock gun than most imported SKS clones out of the box, but thats not saying much.
if you want a match accuratte rifle, buy one. you can improve upon your group size, but only so far. its not designed to be a tack driver.

The AR will beat both on accuracy, but after owning a Mini14 past tense, my money would be on the saiga or even an SKS for beating the Mini 14 on accuracy.

I have a Saiga 7.62x39 and it is more accurate than the Mini 14 I own. The Mini 14 is a great little fun gun to plink away with, but don't use it as a target rifle or you will become frustrated!

Don't waste your time on the mini-'s, been there done that! For just a little more you can buy an AR type rifle which is 10x better. Even the older skinny bbl AR's are better. It's not uncommon to find an upper and lower half (quality made/mil-spec)which you can slap together for $450-550. 0
