i have seen the mac 10 with a fake suppressor

Fake suppressors are legal but they must be carefully made to insure that they DOT NOT silence the firearm. Most of the better ones are near identical copies of commercial models which use solid tubes (no expansion chambers or room for wipes) with bores which are very close to the bullet diameter to ensure that there is not chance for gas expansion (which would tend to silence the firearm). Some years ago there were some outstanding copies made of the old SIONICS suppressors for both the MACs and M16 rifles but I have not seen these around for several years. I have no idea if these will work with you ice/salt sabot bullets!

http://www.gunsnstuff.net/FAC/009.asp I was looking at those AR-15 ones but decided against it for now, also some places like model 1 sales make a barrel that comes with mock silencer, I think RRA had one as well. 0 -
Many fake suppressors are very real looking; THAT is the very reason that it would be stupid to buy one. Since most LEO's don't know how to tell a real one from a fake, anyone caught with one has an excellent chance of being arrested.

I realize this tread is just asking questions about fake suppressors, but it got me to wondering. Why would anybody waste money on a fake suppressor? Just wondering, is there something I'm missing here? 0 -
As I read it somewhere - if the durn thingy changes the sound/report of the weapon in any way, it's not legal.
Fake silencers are designed not to do that and to resemble a real silencer.
It wouldn't have any other function than to look great (for those who likes the look of a silenced weapon), perhaps change the weight-distribution of the weapon slightly as well as felt recoil - and place you at a higher risk at getting thouroughly checked out if you're "caught" with it.
Personally I like silencers/supressors =o)

Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.0 -
They are useful for practice. It approximates the weight and ergonomics of a real one and lets you shoot without the wear and tear on your expensive supp.

can a fake suppressor be used to extend the barrel to the necessary barrel length of 16 inch?

If it's permanently fixed to the barrel I believe. Mark C. could answer that better than I could.

This is my understanding as well. Silver solder it in place or something simliar.0 -
I have a fake silencer on a Beretta M21 in .22LR. It is just a solid alloy tube that is attached to an extended and threaded barrel. It looks cool but is otherwise worthless. The report is slightly less sharp but still quite loud and the added weight of the fake silencer effects the reliability of cycling. (Bang-Jam, Bang Bang-Jam, etc.. etc...).
MOLON LABE!
An evil tree bears evil fruit. You can destroy as much fruit as you want, but it will always grow back, and it will always be evil.
Tear the tree out of the ground by the roots and burn it. Burn it to ash and grind out the embers with your boot until there's nothing left. Not a single spark. Not a single seed.0
