S&W 640 vs 340 Question
I'm finding it extremely difficult to carry my 640, CONCEALED, in nice weather. I like having my shirt tucked in. In the winter it's easy IWB on the hip or over my wallet pocket, but it's too large and heavy for a summertime pocket gun.
I know that the 340 is about half as heavy, but is it also small enough for a pocket carry or should I go ahead and get a Kel Tec P3AT .380? I don't want to wear a fanny pack. I think it looks too obvious.

I would get the S&W 340.

You'll see an advantage in the weight, but there is no gain (reduction)in overall size so the 340 gives you a lighter revolver with the same pattern/profile.
If your thinking lighter and smaller to work best with your summer mode of dress you need to look at some others and the Kel-Tec is one option.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
I was hoping that the 340 would be a smaller profile and grip. I've never owned a semi-auto handgun before. I grew up with revolvers and even keep my 1961 6" Python as my car gun. I've always been more concerned with reliability (Mr. Murphy tends to hang around me) than capacity.
I really haven't looked into pocket semi-autos yet. I just know about the Kel Tec because of advertising and how many the gun shop seems to sell. Any opinions or suggestions?0
