Winchester model 42 question

If I hold the trigger down while sliding the action closed, with the safety off, the gun will fire as soon as the action closes completely.

Any ideas how to correct this?

    I just bought one and it has an English straight stock with checkering. Does anyone if Winchester ever made one with a straight stock? Thanks! Fred

    Baaddawg: That's one of the characteristics of the Md 42 and the Md12. No correction required other than take your finger off the trigger, when you pump it. Regards Dave

    Actually, it's a pretty cool way to empty a magazine in a hurry.

    The old Ithaca 37 is the same way.

    Well, kind of surprising, but will save me a few bucks on repairs.

    Emptying the magazine that way might use up the savings.

    baaddawg, in their hay day, the Md 42 and Md 12 Skeet/Trap/wing shooters realy enjoyed that feature, especially when shooting doubles. Some said it was a design flaw, but it wasn't. The Md 42 is such a sweet little gun, (I have 6 currently) and everyone is a dream to shoot. Not many gunsmiths around who really understand and know the gun.     I've heard it referred to as "fan-firing" some years ago with regards to wing shooting.
