S&W Model 3000 value...
I have a S&W Model 3000 12Ga pump action with a Redfield 2X7 scope. Both are in real nice shape, and I'm wondering what a reasonable asking price would be. I paid $325 in 1990 for the setup.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You neglected to say if it is a civilian or poice model, but I will assume it is the former.
Won't go into the "why" of a 2x7 scope on a shotgun, but will comment that mounting the scope most likely decreased value.
Standard Catalog of S&W, 2nd Edition, has them at $300 NIB and the 24th edition of the BB has them at $350. And there would be a premium of $25-30 for multi-choke tube. But, if it has the slug barrel (which I suspect it might as you have a scope on it) then sadly your looking at a $35-40 deduction.
Market varries by region, but I'd suggest offering it at $350 and be prepared to come down. Another route would be to remove the scope and sell it seperately starting at say $65-70 and being prepared to come down, and offering the shotgun with base and rings at $300 and being prepared to come down.
Net of all of this is that I think you'll be lucky to break even here, but I've been wrong before.[;)]
Sorry to rain on your first post, better luck next time.

You should absolutely sell the scope seperately if you want to come out on this one. Make sure you use appropriate plug screws in the receiver.

Thanks for the responses, I really appreciate it. Good assumptions: it is the civilian model with the slug barrel (for deer hunting in Ohio). I bought it when I was first getting started, and the scope was already mounted. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. 0
