    Hello hardley,
The following info is quoted from Ned Schwing's book, "Browning Superposed"
"The best method of determining whether or not a Superpose is fitted with a salt wood stock is to first carfully examine the outward appearance of the gun for discolored or dark spots. Slide the forearm away from the breech end of the barrels to look for signs of rust on metal parts. For a more definitive determination, remove the buttplate, scrap away a small amount of exposed wood and apply a one percent solution of silver nitrate to the freah wood. If it remains light purple then there is no evidence salt in the buttstock, but if the solution turns white that is a clear warning that salt has contaminated the buttstock or forearm".
Schwing also state that secondary owners with no warrenty card are being directed to other repair sources.
I have a 20 ga. Skeet/Skeet which is also in the salt gun range. I took it to the Browning repair facility here in St. Louis, Mo. and the could not tell me for sure whether or not it had a salt gun stock etc. Apparently, the guns were a mix of both stocks, i.e. not all guns in the serial # range were salt guns.
I am far from a Superpose expert, but I would think that your 28 ga. would bring a price of at least $3,000.00.
    Hope this helps.
    Taperloc.

Taperloc is right. Not all guns in the salt wood serial number range have problems. If your gun shows no sign of corrosion under the wood I would not worry about it that much. Just be prepared to show that to prospective buyers.
