Providence Tool Company was a 19th Century manufacturer of primarily military rifles. The were in business from the early 1860's to the early 1880's and were located in the Rhode Island City with the same name. Besides the Civil War muzzle loading rifles they produced, their most notable products were the Peabody & Peabody-Martini Rifles.

To the best of my knowledge P T C, never made handguns. You have either a very rare specimen of a virtually unknown pistol, or a cutdown rifle made into a pistol.

Please post some pictures and give us a specific physical description of the pistol.

Well I'm on a work computer and don't have one @ home
I asked my guy to bring in the gun so I can look at it again to see if there are readable markings. I've been doing research looking for this handgun. I've only been able to find the peabody martini rifles. but this thing is a pistol, an old pirate looking beast. I'll do my best to get as much info about it as I can and post it in the days to come, as I'm out on the trucks most of this week. If it gets past 3 or 4 days I'll just post a new topic with the new info...
