Removing SKS action from stock
I finally got started degreasing my Yugo SKS, but can't figure out how to remove the action from the stock. My assembly book doesn't show this step. Do I have to remove that BIG bolt running across the stock? If so, how do you get that bolt out; I couldn't get it to budge.

Here's a excellent site with some very throught instructions.

That bolt stays put.
There is a takedown plunger in the trigger guard. Push it in with the point of a cartridge and the trigger guard comes out. After that it is easy.

Here is another good site for instruction on an SKS. That bolt can be removed after everything else, but not from the end you are trying. It takes a special tool from the other side. http://will.mylanders.com/shot/sks/ 0 -
OK, thanks guys, I got it. This thing was so full of grease nothing would move, & I needed to be sure I was doing it right before I took a crowbar to it.

The safety has to be engaged to release the springloaded catch.

Safety has to be on to get that trigger assembly out. That's the key, also I have learned the hard way never mix alcohol with gun disassembly, make putting them back together real hard!
