Trigger adjustment on 99E Savage lever action
Friend at work asked if it is possible to lighten up the trigger on this rifle. He says that it is so hard and has so much creep that by he time the rifle fires, you are off the target.
I didnt want to tell him that lever guns are not real good on accuracy. But I told him that I would ask some experts if its possible to do this.
So.... is it possible to do and if so, how hard is it?

m-99 savages are noted as some of the most accutate lever action rifles around. the triggers can be impoved but only by someone experienced in trigger work (EASY TO SCREW UP THE TRIGGER) 0 -
MW: thanks for the info.
I thought that it wouldnt be something that the average person could try to do without the problems that you said.
As for levers not being accurate, I was comparing them to bolt guns(700 Rem.) for accuracy.[;)]
Thanks again.

Beware the savage model 99 needs an expert to work on trigger this is a great gun but can fire when closeing lever if trigger job is botched. 0 -
bolthandle,
As in any action job/trigger work, you must have a qualified smith.
I have never found the Savage 99 with a bad trigger. Forty years experience-likely counts for nothing. I would pull tthe stock first
and then clean. I believe that you will come up with a dirty/fouled
sear. The later 99's made in Spain are another creature. Good luck, 1010 -
101, some of the last sav. 99's where pretty rough, lots of machining marks left inside (some out side too). the pre-1960's rifles were the best. 0
