Model 69A 22 cal. Winchester Rifle -short

My grandfather passed this gun down to my father and now to me. Are these worth much or hard to find or anything unique at all? Appreciate any info you can share with me! Im guessing its from the 30"s

    There were lots of these things made, but that, in the upper condition levels, they can be worth a pretty good buck. If in 95%+ condition, around $400. Since yours is a 69a, it is a cock on open. If it has a grooved reciever, book says add 20%. Since it is a short only, is it the "target" model? Those are supposedly worth another 40%. As you can see, there are a number of variables, and I would assume that Bert and Winchesters only will come up with a more precise tally than myself. Try posting back with a little more info and they will get you a better idea, I'm sure.

    Hello scudmuscle...

    The Model 69A was not made in "22 Short" only. It was made for 22 Short, 22 Long, and 22 Long Rifle interchangeably. A total of 355,363 Model 69/69As were made from March 15, 1935 - to the end of 1963. The Model 69A came into being on November 30, 1937. This model is not at all hard to find, and most will be in the $150 - $300 range.

    And the reason they are fairly easy to find is that it represents Winchesters early quality. It probably out sold its competition 10 to one. You have a nice heirloom of your Grandfathers... shoot it and enjoy it. [8D]

    I have the 69A with the grooved receiver from my grandfather. The rifle is superbly accurate,..enjoy that rifle and don't be afraid to take it out and shoot it.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Have 3 grooved 69's including the target version which I got for Christmas in 1961. All superbly accurate. They'll shoot with a Kimber and bury the Ruger 77-22 in the dust for accuracy. All this for $250 or so!!
