Let the factory repair it they will do a good job . there are other good repair people but unless you know what you are getting you might do more harm than good. If repairs are noticeable a factory rebuild will not hurt value as much.

    donnie 1956,
Side play usually indicates a new hinge pin is required. $250-$300.00
Vertical play requires Tig welding the barrel locking lugs and if
applicable, a new wear block-$300.00. Your Browning has digested more than a few shells. Good luck, 101

donnie, Is the side to side play between the barrels and reciever, or the reciever and the stock? Can you post pics? If you can't, e-mail me and i'll post them for you.

The play is betweeen the receiver and the barrel. It isn't noticable unless you are holding the stock and wiggle the forarm. The play is mainly side to side. When closed the tang is also not centered. I can't post pictures because it is at the Browning Service center getting an estimate for repairs. I am not sure about spending another $300-500 getting this gun back to factory specs.

If the locking lever is offcenter to the right, that's a good thing. Offcenter to the left is a worn locking mechanisum.
There designed to be off to the right when new, as the lugs wear the lever will move further to the left (the seats are tapered, so this is a wear compinsating feature)

if its not a major problem, and just needs to be tightened up, and re-aligned, $100.00-$200.00 would be fair. best regards, mike.
