NEED HELP QUICK! Gun ID's and Values
Just saw a few guns for sale and need some expert help w/id and value. Sorry,I don't have pics. Tried to get pertinent info-what was available.
1) Remington Rolling Block
-34" Round bbl w/ 2 bands
-Marked "Remington Ilion,N.Y. U.S.A.
Pat. May 30,Nov 15,1864
Apr. 17,1868, Aug.27,1867,Nov.7,1871
(all this is on the top grip-strap,between
comb and receiever)
-Left side of barrel has "S" stamp
-Right side has "P" stamp
-Right side of reciever has "R" stamp
-Adjustable rear tang sight
-Straight-grip stock
No other info available and I can't seem to find it in my Bluebook.
2) Remington 121A Fieldmaster 22s,l,lr-90% or better. He said $150.00 and BB shows $250.00. That's a no-brainer. Gun is beautiful!
3) Winchester mdl 03(1903?).22 Win auto rimfire-NOT .22lr!
-Ser.# 106XXX
-90%+ condition
Is ammo still available for this or is this better to just collect and admire?
4) Ruger Old Model Super Bearcat .22 lr single action
-80% condition
-Ser.# 19XXX
-About $150.00 sound right?

Number 4 sounds right to me if it is a 3 screw Ruger. [8D]

The rolling block is the standard Military Rifle and they came with 2 and 3 bands. Over 1,000,000 were made in many calibers.
While you didn't mention caliber, there's a very good chance it is one of the more obscure and obsolete, but maybe not ...
3rd Edition of Flayderman's Guide says median value is $175 for a full stock military rifle in "Fine" condition, and there is an implied premium if the caliber is one of the popular (more common) ones. Adjusting things for present day lets say $250-300 for obscure cal. and $300-400+ for common (popular) caliber.
The others you seem to be up to speed on.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

ContenderMan,sorry,I couldn't determine exact caliber. It appears to be .45 or .50 as it's as big or bigger than my 45-70.

First off...excellent quote! The music started banging around in my head after I read it though and had to go pull out the CD just to get a fix! Truer words were likely never spoken, and surely not in the generally liberal world of popular music!
As to #3 on your list, these were and are beautiful little guns. Winchester makes the ocassional lot of this odd sized 22 RF ammo, and I have 2 boxes laying about. These are excellentrifles and I am fairly sure they are a JMB design (not sure on this one, but they are of the 1903,1905,1907, 1910, 63 line). You sadly did not say what he wanted for it but they are MOLTO collectable. In excellent condition/as new, close to 900 dollars if you find a real collector.
If you decide to pick it up, I can still point you to a guy who has many boxes of the ammo for about $10 per 50. A little pricey, but new production excellent stuff.

i think 1kdstr has this mixed up with .22 wrf, .22 win auto hasn't been made since about ww2 and is considered collectable. the rem. roller $$ will depend on cal., .50/70 was the largest made, 11.25mm and 11mm/.43 the most common, TANG SIGHT is different (are you sure about this??. most have barrel mounted sights. 0 -
Hey Mike...You got Me!! I apologize and you are indeed correct. The Win. auto has been obsolete for lo these many years and it is the WRF that I have a few boxes of! The WRF is, I believe, interchangeable with several other 22 rimfires and was the predecessor to the WMR; although with my last screw up I wonder if I have that correct!
At any rate, I feel the value estimate on the rifle is in the right ballpark, and I do apologize for any confusion I may have caused!

The 03 22Win Auto is now desirable but only in vg-exc condition.
There is/was some fresh ammo around for about $15/ box.0 -

Nope... you still have it confused. The only cartridge that a 22 WRF interchanges with is a 22 WMR, and it is a ONE-WAY interchange... 22 WRF can be used in any gun chambered for 22 WMR, but not the other way around (the WMR is slightly longer than the WRF).

Hey guys...Looks like I'm on a roll today by God!! This is pretty basic stuff and I sure wish I had my books here with me right about now! I of course know this stuff and just seem to be suffering from brain fade for some reason. I've always wanted an '03 model and surely wish I had taken the opportunity to pick up any of the several I saw years ago when they were still cheap!
Is the groove diameter the same as 22 LR/22WMR? Is it an outside heel round and that's the reason rounds won't interchange? Educate me if you would!

No it's not a heel bullet. The bullet is inside the case like the 22Mag. The case diameter is greater than the 22LR. I have made sleeves from long brass rivets that fit 22LR ammunition and functioned in the '03. 0
