Why are the pre-ban AKs so much more money than post ban new in box?

  Because they are preban. The same reason preban AR's are almost twice as much.

  I think the answer that zapcat is looking for is that you can do things to the preban guns that you can't do to the postban. Things like flash hider, folding stock, bayonet lug, grenade launcher, no need for a minimum legal count on parts so you can get a pistol grip, etc.
