"US" revolver company???

Anyone have any info on these?? They look like copies of the old Harrington and Richardson revolvers. I would like to add one to my "sort of odd old stuff" collection but would like to also be able to shoot it occassionally as well. Are smokeless rounds OK in these weapons--it shoots 32 shorts. Any info is really appreciated--thanks

    My book says the "U.S. Revolver" was made by the Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works on inexpensive pocket revolvers.

    "Inexpensive pocket revolvers" were also known as "Saturday Nite Specials" and "Suicide Specials"....'cause they were often as dangerous to the shooter as the shootee.... [:D]

    If you buy one, and if you can find any ammo for it, take it to a gunsmith and have him check it out (probably while holding his nose and laughing).

    .32 Short was a pretty low-powered cartridge. If any is still made, it would be loaded with these old clunker pistols in mind, and would probably be safe to shoot in an older revolver in good condition.

    That having been said, the best use for these cheap, old, break-top revolvers is as wallhangers or paperweights.

    I'd be real hesitant about shooting this Little Gun....! Even tho my database says its a Modern Gun, implyimg that it will shoot modern Ammunition...I'd still be very hesitant about trying it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    As explained to You By another member of these forums....Its a Saturday Night Special...And Not made to fire Rounds from Todays Modern Powders...If You could Possibly Load up a few rounds with Black Powder...You might get away with it.....But I'd check with a Good Gunsmith and let Him determine if the Pistol in question is in Safe Shooting Condition........

    iver johnson's arms & cycle works manufactured the u.s. revolver co. between 1910 and 1935. they were manufactured for smokeless powder cartridge pressures.

    if you will furnish the serial number and letter code found on the left side of the grip frame under the grip panel i will give you an exact year of manufacture.
