Romainian clip problems

I recently bought a Rom. training rifle, the 22cal. bolt action gun that has been around for awhile. The 5 rd. clip does fine on the first two rounds, but I usually have to push it up after that or the bolt won't feed the last rounds. Is there any way to correct that?

Is it true that cannibals won't eat clowns cause they taste funny?

    It sounds like a weak magazine spring. I would get a new mag. As a test, I would stretch the current spring to see if that helps. I don't know if you can find a new magazine spring for these. You might be able to find one that will work if that is the problem.

    The problem might be because of the Fact that most of the Magazines being imported with the rifles are being made in the Philipines..I bought 2 extra mags when I bought My Romanian .22 and found that I had a problem with one of them...Finally after screwing around with it for a week...I pitched it into the Trash Bin...Its just one of them things I suppose..Soft Metal seems to be the Culprit...I can tell You where you can get an extra Magazine if You can't find one in your area.........

    That odd catain, my mags are marked "taiwan"... still poor quality mags. I have been told that mags for a CZ 452 will fit and work well, but haven't had a chance to try one yet. The CZ mags are top quality, but will most likely cost you at least $15 each.

    I would agree with Perry and add that if you depress the follower down and hold down one end or the other of it you should be able to pull the follower and spring out of the mag body. I would give the innards a good dousing with mineral spirits or some other cheap solvent and THEN stretch out the spring to see if it moves more freely inside the body and subsequently feeds better. As these were military trainers and thus got some hard use, there might be a dent in the sides of the body that is resticting the movement of the follower as well. If you find a dent, use a large flat screwdriver blade and lay it across the dented area and hammer it out, as carefully as you can.


    P.S. Sorry, I keep starting my responses and get interrupted by work! The nerve of these people! At any rate, I think you guys are onto something there as far as the replacement mags go too. Anyone know why the Phillipinos have no idea how to heat treat their metal?!?!
