maadi troubles
I bought a maadi in great looking cond. but when you load and fire the first round, it jams. the bolt carrier seems to raise up a fraction and catches the next round on top of the cartridge. it seems that the gas piston is going cockeyed at the full rear firing position of the bolt carrier. ? - if that desciption makes sence to anyone I'd pre-she-ate your input. think a buffer would/might solve the prob? it wouldn't let the bolt go back as far as it does now.? the piston looks fine and the gas tube is original to the gun. also when you charge a round it "sticks" way more than usual for an ak. logic says that the bolt is coming too far back on its cycle since charging a round is no problem.
its a preban with threaded barrel and lug. got it lnib with bayo.it had t-hole stock installed that looked more like a laminated bishop stock - much bigger like the bulgy sa 93 - 95 stocks and it came with a p-grip (brown) and a laminated maadi buttstock that was never installed. (I had to trim it to fit) and that stock had a black stripe around the stock next to the butt plate about 1" wide and you can tell that it was done at the factory? as the black paint is under the varnish. also when you take the top cover off the # 1982 is stamped on top of the trunion (?) that you can't see with top cover on. its at the smiths so I don't know the various stampings. is that the date of manufacture or inport. I know it has all matching #s , even on the lower grip, bolt ,bc, etc.
I'm new to the maadi so any info you care to share would be welcome. I got it for $700 so I feel I got a deal if I can tweak it to work the way its supposed to.
